” a lightening scorched scattering of scars”….just one of many exquisite lines in this poem from Angela!
over nearly half a century,
time had worn her threadbare,
a tapestry of thinning, loosened threads,
mindlessly and obsessively pulled
as was necessary, sometimes her suffering was sad enough to silence the songbirds,
and other times, her joy was a melody others couldn’t help but to join
by now, she is a well-worn weather map of shared existence,
a lightening scorched scattering of scars,
a thunderous rattle of broken bones,
some not quite set right
but the seasons continue to change,
and she still manages to make leaves from nothing,
stretching her tired limbs toward the sky and offering herself bare to the thickening light
how is it, she wonders,
that I’ve become a minstrel of metaphor?
she hates metaphors
does shade have a shadow?
what else do we allow time to hide in plain sight?
why can’t something just be what it is?
if time has…

Oh how this reaches me.. Even as I do not want it too!! I choose metaphors as my way to walk across the *pebbles digging into my bare feet* hoping across them in the hope of minimizing the pain until I am ready to truly face them! And there I go doing that again! Oh how powerfully healingly beautiful this is ❤ xxx

I spent a very long time hiding behind metaphors, I think. Now I do much what you describe, Trizia – lovingly allow myself to use them to help soften the stripping away of them so I can see what truly is. And the more of that that happens, the less I need them! Thank you so very much, and I’m so happy the poem spoke to you! Love to you. 💜

Chills, my girl. Beyond brilliant…giving life to these elusive thoughts, almost impossible to grasp, with so much depth and emotion, while simultaneously making the words you chose dance…a master of her craft, indeed.
Hugest hug to you!!
