Unplug

I read a post yesterday from, Writing to Freedom, about internet addiction, and although I don’t think I suffer from such an affliction, I have been feeling unbalanced and spending too much time online.  I need to unplug for a few days, work on my writing (the poetry collection I have threatening to delve into for months), spend time with friends, read……you get the picture.

I am sorry for all of the posts and pictures and poems and stories that I will miss out on for the next 5 days, but hopefully I will return feeling a bit more balanced, refreshed, and decided about some things in my life.  Happy writing and art to everyone.  Read you soon!!!!!!!

Introducing Samantha Rose ~ Chasing Ghosts

What an introduction! I am so proud to be a part of the kind of Literary collective that produces writing like this. An Exquisitely Beautiful piece!

MORALITY PARK

Rose-gold sunbeams set the autumn trees ablaze

Under skies consumed by the pouring rain

My mind caught in a silver haze

I search for glimpses in the rearview mirror

And hold open the palms of my hand out the window

Hoping to catch drops of nostalgia

That quench my soul like water

I see drive by memories

Strewn apart by the wind

And buried deep in muddy waters

They swirl apart the tattered pages in my mind

But dissipate quickly on the tongue

I try to capture phantoms in a glass bottle

But memories are not wine

They don’t get richer as they age

They haunt me

And as seasons die

I try to dig up their bodies

Forever left

Chasing ghosts.

A Body Covered in Time

I have been thinking a lot about time.  The passing of it, the motion, the gift and the cruelty of it.  I am thankful for the memories it gives me, the love and friendship.  I  hate it for everything it takes away.  Time shows itself with constant vigor.  It appears in the music I love, the way I dance and my favorite things to eat.  It appears in the lines around my eyes, in the scars that linger and mark the pitfalls of my past.  It shows itself in the explosion of color that traverses across my body. Partially Sighted Irony

I was invited to participate in a Black and White photo challenge and I accepted (with much hesitation) because the invite was from Grace, who I totally adore!!!  But, I was nervous.  I don’t take pictures, especially not outside, because, well, I have the whole visually impaired, partially sighted, low vision, cataracts, blindness thing going on.  I had no idea what I was going to do.
