I am posting this poem for an extraordinary and beautiful new friend. You know who you are. My heart and love are with you today.
Sono’s Death Poem
Don’t just stand there with your hair turning gray,
Soon enough the seas will sink your little island
So while there is still the illusion of time,
Set out for another shore.
No sense packing a bag.
You won’t be able to lift it into your boat.
Give away all your collections.
Take only new seeds and an old stick.
Send out some prayers on the wind before you sail.
Don’t be afraid.
Someone knows you’re coming.
An extra fish has been salted.

This is so beautiful and so fits my mood today as I’ve wept tears for my late mum and the journey she endured before she passed into that vast ocean.
This one went straight to my heart. ❤️

Mine too Miriam, and for the exact same reason. It is one of those poems that just knocks you down with it’s beauty and power. I am so glad it reached you today when you needed it.

It really is one of the most haunting and beautiful things I have read in a long time. It was shared with me and I had to share it here. It is the kind of poem that goes right to the heart and awakens all of it’s facets.

That is a beautiful description. At the culmination of it, in my first reading, I felt joy more than sadness.
