I feel like I have been cheating a bit, not having actually written a blog post this year, but tomorrow that will change.
For today, I want to share an essay I wrote that was accepted last year and came out today. The Furious Gazelle is a great online magazine that has been very good to me; they have published 3 of my poems and 2 essays.
This essay is a really old one that I dusted off and fixed up and I am thrilled that Furious Gazelle chose to publish it. It is called, “Shake a Leg”

Just as I suspected it would be, your essay was yet another example of your extraordinary talent and beautiful soul. You can see beauty where most do not, and for that, I utterly adore you. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we all could exist without inhibition, take joy in the small things and dance our way through our days without a single care in the world just as he did? It would be a whole new world indeed. So brilliantly written, Susan!

We often think, when we “normals” are confronted with people like ‘him’ that his reality is a travesty – a symptom of some larger disease for which we should be thankful we have not contracted. Yet, as you illustrate here, everything is and can be an illusion. Well done!
