I am thrilled to have my poem, “Rose Tinted Glasses” in Foxglove Journal. My thanks to Elizabeth Gibson who has created a beautiful journal. I am honored to be among the writers she has chosen to publish.

Beautiful poem. It makes me wonder if my daughter Jessica asks the same sort of question about a genetic link to her diabetes. I know she worries about her two children having diabetes in their future.

Thank you Paul! I think those of us with chronic or progressive illness often wonder where it came from, feel the need to give it an origin. Has Jessica had any genetic testing?

Jess did do a genetic test only it was one called a BRCA2 which tests for a predisposition to breast cancer. Cora took it first and tested positive – no surprise. Since Cora tested positive Jess took the test and tested positive.
Both of them do screening every 6 months that includes an MRI. According to Jess the MRI is not at all comfortable.
BTW, I dropped you a note. Okay well it wasn’t a note. Closer to a book on your website. It might serve as a warning to be careful what you ask for when you offer a contact page. : /

I am so sorry they have that gene, Paul, but they are super smart to do regular screenings. My mom and brother had a mutation of the TP53 gene that predisposed them to multiple kinds of cancer. My sister and I, luckily, don’t have the mutation. I was going to do genetic testing for the RP, but the insurance company denied it.
I actually read your email late last night and have been thinking a lot about it. I will write you later this afternoon.
